It’s time for a little lesbian revolution/evolution.

Today we’re just going to jump in as I feel yesterday’s ending was just ripe for the picking with subjects for discussions. I started out with the comparison of men to women in the dating world and went off into to a “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane” tangent and the differences in what men find appealing and what you women want. As I said, between me and my friends we are well groomed and maintained and dress fashionably and seem to wear clothes well enough and have cleavage. None of us have any trouble attracting men when we go to a restaurant or club of the straight variety. The men seem attractive enough as well. Rotate that scenario 180 degrees and women seem cold as ice. If you are not already a member of one of the many cliques here in Houston… and no, I don’t know enough of you to be specific you will not be co-mingling and having random conversations between differing groups of people as it happens so easily and often in straight bars. Men’s egos just aren’t as fragile as ours. If a woman doesn’t want to talk to a man, he doesn’t stop to analyze what’s wrong with him. He just moves on to the next girl who strikes his fancy. And guess what girls? Straight guys and gay guys too for that matter are getting laid and having dates while we sit at home wishing and wondering why we haven’t met that Ms. Right.



So, warrior Sapphic women of Houston and the world, start talking to each other. What can it hurt? I guarantee Angelina Jolie is not breaking up with Brad and coming over to your house anytime soon and committing to you for life. I know. I waited for the picture perfect woman so long I don’t even know how to communicate with people I am actually interested in anymore. The myth exploded in my face. I certainly don’t want the baggage that comes with all that perfection. I found it and it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. I discovered a whole new way of defining beauty. You guys probably have already figured it out. If not, here’s what to try. It might do you good to get to know some new people as women become much more attractive as they open their mouths and reveal interesting facts and stories about their lives just as you and that last ten pounds or whatever it is you obsess about yourself melts away when you open up and talk.



The perfect woman is a work in progress because she reveals herself a little bit at a time and becomes more beauty every time you interact. Intimacy is a like a facelift for both of you so you want to try and not do that the first night. One-night stands can lead to a long-term relationship but one thing I’ve learned is that delayed gratification is DEFINITELY something worth waiting for. I’m still a lesbian – I don’t wait long but drunk sex with a worthy candidate is no longer in my repertoire. I have to admit as a woman who has dated many bisexual women (I’m not going to dissect me and that yet), they did teach me expensive lessons about heterosexual dating and there is a lot to be said for the pre-UHAUL period if women would open themselves up to getting to know someone they are not instantly attracted to. From experience, I know that things change. As a self-proclaimed charmer who has converted a few of those bisexual women to their current status, persistence, wit, intelligence, and personality can affect the eyes. If only we could stop looking at each other through the pages of a magazine or the television.
