Sappho Speaks: Plans For The Future

What Would Sappho Say?

Lectori Salutem! or L.S. (Greetings to the Reader!)

I think I have a glimpse into the world of today's young and even those who grew up and are in adulthood now still addicted to their Play Stations or Nintendos and now the Wii and XBOX 360. As I said, I have the last one listed for the purpose of playing only one game thus far and it has been hard to pull myself away from it at night to do my actual job and write this blog, but I promise to join a support group and do better. I'm sure by now there is a Gamers Anonymous for Addicts who can't put their joysticks or in my case, my drumsticks or plastic Fender Stratocaster down and move away from the TV. I have Rock Band 2, The Beatles Rock Band, and Band Hero so far and they have been enough to keep me incredibly busy for an hour or two each night. I try to limit myself to just that but sometimes I look at the clock and well... let's just say time fly's when you are having fun.

My days have been full of working on my novel and the short stories and I let the blog slip down the list of priorities. I apologize for that and plan to do better in the future. I missed one week where I did not post four completely new blogs last week and that is unacceptable to me and I will work extremely hard to make sure that does not happen again. The new year brought with it many challenges and tasks and had to accomplish but this blog is an important part of my life and I will continue to write it, regardless of the readership I may or may not have.

There are some big topics coming down the pike in the next month that I hope those of you still reading will stay tuned for: Adoption and it's real world implications around the globe as well as my own story of landing in my wonderful family and the questions that remain; what if the world was Oprah and Gayle instead of Oprah and Steadman - a funny and realistic view of the implications on the world; "Those who Guard The USA" - an insider's look into the differences in the treatment of veterans of the first gulf war and today; "Hate Lives Under the Smoothest, Softest Rock" - a personal hate crime story in the Liberal City, AUSTIN, where because of a bumper sticker I was chased and my life was threatened until others interceded; and many, many more serious and fun topics that relate not only to the lesbian community but to the progressive community at large.

These new topics listed will be delayed for a few days as I am buying a mailing list and finally doing a bit of advertising on my website hoping to increase my traffic. There will be other topics in the mean time that I hope you will enjoy just as much. Stay with me as I go through this transition. As always, your support means the world to me.

Much Love.

Inspired By Sappho's Muse

MUSIC OF THE DAY
So, I decided to pick to polar opposite songs today - one telling men they can petty much just take a step back and leave her alone because it's Pink's just U & UR Hand Tonight if you get the meaning. The other is a beautiful song by Mary J. Blige telling her man there is no one out there who is going to love him better or treat him better than I Am.

U + UR Hand Tonight   Pink
I AM                           Mary J Blige

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

Thanks for your comments today. No need for a Sapphic love poem, your thoughts are much more useful to me. :)
